The Market Town Welcome project set out to help the town and its tourism businesses to
develop a strong identity for Guisborough. The work has been tailored to fit with
the emerging plans for investment and improvements arising from the Guisborough
Retail Distinctiveness Project, and was be co-ordinated by Guisborough Market Town
Partnership with support from recar and Clevelnd Borough Council.
To support the process a Leadership Group was formed from local stakeholders,
including
representatives from the local council, the local tourism association, heritage
groups and local tourism and retail businesses.Other interested bodies
such as North York Moors National Park also attended.
The first meeting of the leadership group took place on Tuesday 4th November
2008 and a press article about the event can be downloaded by clicking on this
link.
More information about the event will be available in the downloads section of
the website.
The second and third events took place as follows:
-
Wider Workshop: 25th November 2008, 5:30pm @ The Ship Inn
Business Planning Workshop: 9th December 2008, 5:30pm @ The Ship Inn
Main contact for the Group is Dennis Weller, who may be contacted at d.weller@sky.com
Once the plans are finalised, the Leadership Group will continue to meet to

account of the Market Town Welcome plan.
